Professional Background
Phil Healy entered the workforce in 2019 as a tax consultant for Deloitte Tax in Chicago, specializing in multistate tax services. In early 2021, he was promoted to senior tax consultant and remained with the company’s multistate tax services department throughout the rest of the year.
As a senior tax consultant, Phil was ideally suited to the demands of his position at Deloitte, which is one of the world’s largest professional services firms.
His responsibilities included conducting detailed technical reviews of partnership and corporate state and local tax returns, with a particular focus on multistate tax concerns.
As part of his duties, Phil performed comprehensive reviews of estimated payments, withholding and composite taxes, and investor packages. He also managed engagement workflow, supervised tax consultants and interns on assigned engagements, and coordinated with the company’s client controllers and tax preparation teams.
Phil’s background with Deloitte gave him a thorough grounding in researching and analyzing state tax legislation. Assisting in compliance and investor reporting provided him with the necessary expertise in advising clients on tax planning, restructuring, and due diligence.
Phil’s next career step was accepting the fund finance analyst position at GCM Grosvenor. At the Chicago-based firm, he was tasked with maintaining accounting ledgers for private equity funds and investment vehicles, reviewing quarterly financial statement valuations and daily capital calls and distributions, and reconciling cash balances for current and expected cash flows.
Phil performed similar services for co-investment partners, reviewing expense accruals and payments for private equity funds as well as quarter-end receivables, payables, and foreign translation adjustments.
Among Phil’s other duties were providing guidance to third-party accounting partners, collaborating with treasury, legal, client services, and tax management teams, and supporting the company’s investment and client relationship personnel as needed.
Phil worked at GCM Grosvenor from 2021 to early 2023, at which time he was ready to embark on the next stage of his professional journey. This came in the form of a senior analyst position at Invenergy LLC in Chicago, where he specialized in international finance operations.
At Invenergy, Phil was tasked with creating cash flow projections and preparing budgets for international renewable energy projects, ensuring his clients’ liquidity.
Part of his duties included working with local and international business units to manage variances and update cash flow forecasts and supporting the execution and coordination of deal structures such as acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
Phil also played a key role in managing the company’s internal financial transactions, including capitalizations, dividend payments, allocations of expenses, and intercompany loans. This responsibility encompassed the preparation of bank account reconciliations and expense reporting for international projects and business lines, which was crucial for supporting strategic decision-making. Over time, Phil was assigned the role of aligning the corporate functions of Invenergy’s Chicago office with those of international offices. This involved the analysis and resolution of critical business challenges related to the company’s financial operations. By the time Phil left Invenergy in 2025, he had also received a thorough grounding in preparing interest rates for intercompany and external loans by collecting and analyzing data from Bloomberg Terminal.
